Create Value in Your Home or Business
For New York City households, window film is one of the few upgrades that pays off in everyday comfort the moment it goes on the glass. A single afternoon of installation keeps your rooms cooler in summer, softens the harsh midday light pouring through south-facing windows, and shields floors, rugs, and upholstery from the slow fading that sun exposure causes over the years. You hold on to the open, light-filled feel of your apartment or house while quietly removing the drawbacks that come with big city windows.
Total Window Service serves homeowners and renters across New York City with window cleaning, repair, and film installation. For more than a decade our team has helped New Yorkers get more out of their windows, whether that means adding insulating film for the colder months or restoring crystal-clear glass you can actually see through. Our professional window cleaning services reach homes throughout the five boroughs and finish the job quickly. Call us, or book online today!

What Our Customers Say
RESIDENTIAL WINDOW FILM
If you live in New York City, you already know that the right home should feel comfortable year-round without sending your energy bills through the roof. Most New Yorkers want a place that stays cool in July and warm in January, keeps its furnishings looking new, and offers a little privacy from the building next door – all without a major renovation. Residential window film delivers exactly that, and it works just as well in a high-rise apartment as it does in a brownstone or single-family house.
Once the film is on your glass, you can lower the energy your home spends on heating and cooling, reduce how much harmful UV light reaches you and your family, keep furniture and flooring from fading, and make every room more comfortable to live in for years to come. It is a straightforward upgrade for any NYC home. (And if you also run a business, you will be glad to know we handle commercial film installation too.)
Did you know that window film may qualify for a Federal Tax Credit?
If you are adding window film to make your NYC home more energy efficient, the cost may count toward a federal energy-efficiency tax credit, since qualifying window film is treated as an insulation material or system.
Credit amounts and eligibility rules change from year to year, so check the current IRS guidelines or speak with a tax advisor to confirm what applies to your project.
Warranty
We provide a limited lifetime warranty from the manufacturer. Rest assured, all of our window films are made from high-quality materials and are durable for years. Defects may be subject to the replacement of your window film by the manufacturer at no extra charge to you.
UV Protection
Strong NYC sunlight is hard on skin, art, and furnishings – our residential films block up to 99 percent of ultraviolet rays, so your family and your interiors stay protected room by room.
Save Energy
Film steadies the temperature inside your apartment or house, easing the load on radiators and air conditioners and helping you spend less to stay comfortable through every New York season.
Protection From Broken Glass
When a pane shatters, the film grips the broken pieces together instead of letting them scatter across your floor, lowering the risk of cuts and injuries to everyone in the home.
Control Glare
If sunlight washes out your TV screen or makes a room uncomfortable at certain hours, a tinting film tones the brightness down to a level the whole household can enjoy.
Vandal Protection
Anti-graffiti film acts as a removable sacrificial layer on glass exposed to the street, so scratches and tagging can be peeled away with the film rather than damaging the window beneath – ask us if this fits your property.
Protection from Break-Ins
A layer of security film makes your windows far harder to force open quietly, adding a discreet barrier that helps protect your NYC home or apartment against intrusion.
Additional Window Services
What film brands do you install, and are you an authorized dealer?
We are an authorized Solar Gard and Armorcoat installer – our founder completed Solar Gard’s factory technical training on Armorcoat Safety and Security Film in February 2022. We also install films from Panorama, 3M, Xpel, and others as part of our product range.
How long does the film take to fully cure after installation?
Drying time depends on the film type. Standard solar, privacy, and decorative films take up to 30 days to fully cure. Safety and security films – including Armorcoat – require up to 90 days. During the curing period, minor imperfections such as water bubbles, slight cloudiness, or uneven clarity are completely normal and will disappear on their own as the adhesive sets.
Do NYC co-op and condo buildings require board approval before window film installation?
Many NYC co-op boards and condo associations have rules about exterior-visible alterations, which can include window film – particularly reflective or tinted films visible from the street. Before scheduling installation, we recommend checking your building’s alteration agreement or house rules. We can provide all necessary documentation – including product specifications and our insurance certificate – to support your approval request to the board.
How quickly can you order and install a specific film after I choose it?
For films we have in stock, installation can be scheduled promptly after a 50% deposit is confirmed. If your chosen film needs to be ordered, delivery typically takes up to 3 business days. For large commercial projects or custom film specifications, we factor order lead time into the schedule from the start – so there are no delays once installation day arrives.
Does window film installation require building permits in New York City?
Interior window film installation on residential and most commercial properties does not require a NYC Department of Buildings permit. However, certain large-scale commercial projects – particularly those involving structural safety film on facades – may require documentation. We assess each project individually and advise you on any compliance requirements before work begins.
Can window film be installed on the exterior of a building, and is it more durable?
Yes. We install both interior and exterior window films depending on the building type and client needs. Exterior films are designed to withstand direct UV exposure, temperature fluctuation, and weathering – and are a practical solution when interior installation is not possible due to window hardware or frame configuration. Our team evaluates the surface and recommends the correct application side based on the film manufacturer’s specifications and the specific conditions of your property.
